Since Vietnam is trying to develop better resources to offer clean water and generate power to the people, locals can also seek jobs in this industry. Nearly all the industries are recruiting skillful employers in the last few years. Statistics showed that the greatest demand fell into sales, technology, accounting, marketing and engineering.
Successes and failures of Vietnamese entrepreneurs’ will somehow affect the country’s culture, history and economy. Decades ago, many linked Vietnam on the war with America (or more commonly regarded as Resistance War against America). But today, Vietnam is a developing country in South East Asia that comes third after China and India. Several companies have conducted a series of interviews with successful Vietnamese entrepreneurs. These successful individuals pointed out that they relied solely on reputation and obtain information of their partners through gossips and associates. To avoid any disputes before signing agreements with their customers, they have checked thoroughly on customers’ financial backgrounds and characteristics. And based on the interviews, it is believed that these Vietnamese entrepreneurs are capable in offering job opportunities for family members and the population as a whole that has helped in lowering unemployment rates in the country. While offering job opportunities for the public, these entrepreneurs can easily gain reputation and public recognition as a reliable and trustworthy company hence, generating profits to continue running the business. In addition to that, the interviews and surveys also revealed that Vietnamese entrepreneurs are friendly towards clients and offer the best product at the best deal in order to remain competitive in the market.
Reported in various Vietnamese mainstream media, the tourism property market in central coast of Danang city is emerging. According to a real estate company Savills Vietnam, a number of villa projects are lining up from Son Tra-Dien Ngoc coastal road, Danang up to Hoi An. The projects are scheduled to be completed within the next few years. A total of 218 villas and 630 apartments are up for grabs from all the development projects. Among some of the big-scale projects are Blooming Tower, Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, as well as The Ocean Villas. Besides that, there are also other on-going projects lined along Danang’s beach that offers approximately 7,600 units of apartment which will be completed by 2015. So far, Danang is the third largest city in the country after Hanoi and Ho Chin Minh that is set to have a booming real estate market.
Besides villas projects in Danang, Savills also pointed out that the office market in the city has changed in recent years in order to meet the demands of local and international enterprises. With more foreign investors coming into the country, Vietnam needs to have additional office suites projects. Even though Vietnam has also suffered from financial crisis early this year, the rents for office spaces are still high and therefore, have resulted in drop of occupancy rate in the last quarter of 2009. There are many other factors that encouraged the development of additional apartment and villa projects in Danang. One of the main factors is the amendment of a draft bill states that individual foreigners are allow to purchase apartments soon. Government allows them to purchase one unit only and they can sell it off after owning it for a year. As a result of the draft bill, a number of analysts commented that the property prices in the country will continue to rise in near future.

Vietnam, a male-dominated society has an unbalanced population with about 51.5 percent of females while the remaining 48.5 percent males. Women make up 53 percent of farming population nationwide. Based on the latest statistics, women play an important role in the household for they are responsible in farming and household management. Besides farming, women are also active in fisheries, aquaculture and responsible for livestock production. Women above the age of 25 have lower literary rates compared to men. Even though Vietnam is a male-dominated society, women are equally capable in agriculture. Marketing agricultural products are conducted by women. The sad truth is women’s contribution towards the family is always undervalued. Both husband and wife in a family have to work to feed their kids. In some families, mothers have to look after the young children while juggling with other responsibilities.
However, for families who live nearby their parents, they can easily send the young children to be looked after by the grandparents. Men and women in their society usually live with their parents until they get married. Women are not allowed to decide if they should stay near parents after the marriage. Men are supposed to make decision on that matter. Since women are forced to work from day to night on farms, surveys showed that one third of Vietnamese women suffered from osteoporosis particularly those who are over 60 years old. As a result, a total of 1.4 million elderly women suffered from osteoporosis and the numbers are increasing annually. It is believed that these women failed to consume sufficient amount of vitamin D and calcium. Besides that, some women also failed to complete 45 days of confinement period after giving birth as they need to work on the farm as soon as possible to feed other family members. All in all, discrimination against women in their society is unavoidable as families prefer male over females since male are expected to support the parents and carry on family surnames and line of work.
